Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-08-20

Welcome to TPIX (Typst Package Index & eXchange). By accessing or using the TPIX service, website, CLI client, or API (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

TPIX is a package registry and distribution platform for Typst packages and templates. The Service allows users to publish, share, download, and manage packages within namespaces, and mirrors packages from the official Typst Universe.

TPIX is provided "as is" and "as available". We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice.

2. Accounts and Eligibility

You must be at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and API keys, and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Upload or distribute content that is unlawful, infringing, malicious, or harmful.
  • Publish packages containing malware, backdoors, or destructive code.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' data.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
  • Use the Service to send spam or conduct automated abuse.
  • Violate any applicable law or regulation.

4. Content You Publish

You retain ownership of the content you upload. By publishing a package, you grant TPIX a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, distribute, and serve the package for the purpose of operating the Service, and you represent that you have all necessary rights to do so.

You are solely responsible for the packages you publish, including their licensing, dependencies, and compliance with third-party rights.

5. Namespace Policy

Namespaces are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to the policies below. We reserve the right to reclaim, freeze, transfer, or rename namespaces in accordance with these Terms.

6. Trademark & Name Squatting Policy

TPIX respects intellectual property and commercial brands. To maintain a healthy developer ecosystem, we enforce the following namespace management policy:

  1. No malicious hoarding: Registering organization/brand names with which you have no direct connection, or bulk-registering unused namespaces, is prohibited.
  2. Trademark and brand priority: If a namespace involves a legally registered trademark or an official entity name, TPIX reserves the right to freeze, transfer, or reclaim it after verifying ownership. During a transfer, we preserve read access for existing downstream dependencies where possible so builds continue to work.
  3. Disclaimer: As a neutral hosting platform, TPIX assumes no joint legal liability arising from namespace disputes. TPIX reserves the right of final decision and interpretation regarding dispute cases.

In practice, TPIX maintains a reserved namespace list and dispute-resolution tools. If you believe a namespace infringes your trademark or official entity name, contact the administrators with evidence of ownership. Upon verification, we may freeze the namespace (prohibiting new versions), rename it to free the original name, or transfer it to the rightful owner. Read access is preserved where possible so that existing downstream dependencies continue to build.

7. Intellectual Property

The TPIX software, branding, and Service (excluding user-published content) are owned by TPIX and its licensors. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TPIX DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TPIX SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Contact

For questions about these Terms or to report a namespace dispute, contact the TPIX administrators.
